Demir's Career Day Leads Comeback Win Against Quinnipiac, 92-83

Uncasville, Conn. - Alihan Demir came off the bench to score a career-high 26 points as Drexel rallied from a 16-point deficit to defeat Quinnipiac, 92-83, on Sunday at Mohegan Sun. Freshman Camren Wynter added 17 points, seven rebounds and six assists as the Dragons improved to 6-5. Quinnipiac dropped to 4-5.
Demir had 15 of his 26 points in the second half and finished the night shooting 11-for-15 from the floor. Troy Harper had a nice night on the offensive end and took a key charge late in the game. He scored 19 points. Wynter was once again solid. He had 11 second half points and also had four steals in the win.
Drexel's defense came up with a few stops early on on in the second half, allowing the Dragons to take the lead less than four minutes into the final 20 minutes. Wynter set up Demir for a fast-break bucket giving Drexel a 49-48 lead with 16:12 to go. The game stayed within four points either way for most of the second half. The Dragons trailed by four with 6:07 to play, but then scored six straight to take the lead. With the score then tied at 80-80, James Butler scored off a nice feed from Demir, and then Demir converted a three-point play, giving the Dragons a five-point lead they would not relinquish. Wynter found Demir inside with just four seconds to play in the first half to make it a 45-41 game at intermission. Quinnipiac made eight three-pointers in the first half as five different players sank a trey.
Six players scored at least 10 points for Quinnipiac. Jacob Rigoni led the way with 15 points and had four three-pointers. Cameron Young added 14 before fouling out. The Bobcats shot 50 percent in the game and finished 12-for-29 from deep.
Drexel will stay in New England as it prepares to face the University of Connecticut on Tuesday night. That game will tip off at 7 p.m. in Hartford.
