Men's Tennis Defeats Lehigh, 4-3
2/3/2018 5:57:00 PM | Men's Tennis
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – The Drexel men's tennis team won its second consecutive 4-3 decision on Saturday afternoon as the Dragons went to Lehigh and defeated the host Mountain Cats by that slimmest of margins. Drexel won four of the six singles matches after dropping the doubles point to secure the victory despite many players struggling through illness.
Sanil Jagtiani and Balaji Lakshmanan won their match at No. 2 doubles, 6-3, but that was the only doubles success Drexel had as Lehigh won at No. 1 and No. 3. Things changed when singles play began, however, as Drexel rolled to victories in the top four positions.
Lakshmanan made his season debut at No. 1 singles, rolling to a 6-2, 6-0 victory. He was one of three Dragons to win in straight sets, along with Jagtiani at No. 3 (6-3, 6-3) and Youssef Lahlou at No. 4 (6-4, 6-4).
Sinan Orhon sealed the victory for the Dragons with his three-set triumph at No. 2 singles. He won the first set 6-4, then rebounded after a 6-4 loss in the second to pull out a 7-6 win in the third.
The Dragons return to action next Saturday when they remain on the road against NJIT in Newark. That match begins at 11 a.m.
