PHILADELPHIA - Former Drexel standout Malik Rose has been named the NBA G League's Basketball Executive of the Year. Rose is currently the Erie BayHawks General Manager.
The BayHawks won the Southeast Division in the G League for the franchise's first-ever division title. They also secured the third seed in the Eastern Conference. It is the first time the team has made the postseason since 2012 and just the fourth playoff appearance in the team's history. Erie was 28-22 during the regular season. The 28 wins tied for the second-highest total in team history.
Rose, who led Drexel to three NCAA appearances in his four years in University City, was named to his current post in April of 2017. He was drafted in 1996 by Charlotte and played the majority of his career with the San Antonio Spurs, where he won two NBA titles. Rose also played with the Knicks and Oklahoma City before retiring in 2009.
