WASHINGTON, D.C. – Lucas Rousselet earned Second Team All-American status Sunday afternoon after winning the Molloy Cup West Division at CSA Individual Championships at Squash on Fire in Washington, D.C.
Rousselet found himself with a matchup against Rochester's Lawrence Kuhn in the Molloy Cup West Division final with a spot as All-American on the line. The sophomore from France opened by winning the first two games to take control of the match. After dropping the third game, Rousselet closed it out with an easy fourth game to win it, 11-4, 11-9, 6-11, 11-3.
By earning All-American status, Rousselet joined Bransten Ming and Omar El Atmas as the only Drexel men's players to pull off the feat. Ming earned second team status a season ago, while El Atmas was first team in 2016 and second team last year.
In the semifinals on Saturday, the sophomore cruised to an 11-9, 11-8, 11-5 victory over Marcus Sim Wei Jie of Rochester. The victory set Rousselet up in Sunday's final, with an All-American spot on the line, against Kuhn. On Day 1, Rousselet opened with a four-game win over MIT's Joe O'Connor in the Molloy Cup West Division, 11-7, 11-1, 10-12, 11-9. In the quarterfinals, he ran into his teammate Atticus Kelly, who he beat, 11-7, 11-6, 11-9.
