PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team defeated Saint Joseph's, 4-3, on Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Dragons improve to 14-4 (1-1 CAA).
The Dragons came strong out of the gates, earning wins at No. 1 and No. 3 for the doubles point that they knew would be key to winning the match. Ghita Benhadi and Kendra Bunch teamed up for a 6-3 win at No. 1 while Mya Fuentes and Ryshena Providence defeated their opponent, 7-6 (5), at No. 3.
With the doubles point in hand, all the Dragons needed to do was split the six singles matches, which they did en route to victory. Mya Fuentes and Salma Ziouti earned wins in the top of the lineup to help secure the victory at No. 3 and No. 2, while Marta Martinez won, 5-7, 6-1, 6-4 at No. 6.
The Dragons will get right back to it on Sunday, April 15 at 1 p.m. when they host Hofstra for Senior Day.
