POZNAN, Poland – The United States men's eight, which included rising Drexel Rowing senior Justin Best, won the gold medal Sunday at the World Rowing Under 23 Championships on Lake Malta in Poznan, Poland.
The U.S. set a new course record with a final time of 5:22.480. The time held off charging crews from Great Britain and Romania, which both finished in 5:24.930. Germany, Canada and the Netherlands finished out the final six spots in the top final.
Best, a first-time selection to the U23 National Team, rowed from the two-seat in Poland. His boat consisted of six rowers from Washington, one from Cornell and one from Stanford. He also recently finished fourth overall with the same crew at World Rowing Cup III in Lucerne, Switzerland against senior crews.
