
Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Compete Against Towson

RESULTS
TOWSON, Md. – The Drexel men's and women's swimming and diving team split with Towson on Saturday afternoon at Burdick Hall. The men's team won 161 - 133 while the women's team fell 169-127.
The men's team had 10 first place finishes, highlighted by Jason Arthur who won three individual events (100 back, 200 back, 200 IM) and factored into a 400 free relay victory. He finished the 100 back in 50.34 and the 200 IM in 1:50.15. The relay team included Stathis Malamas, John Scully, Arthur and Kiran Richardson, who finished in 3:06.82. The 200 medley relay team made up of Alberto Lagrutta Saenz, Ralph Cannarozzi III, Paris Raptis and John Scully started the Dragons out strong, winning the event in 1:31.13. Patrick Cobb won both the 1000 free (9:33.56) and 500 free (4:38.30). Malamas won the 200 free in 1:42.51, just .10 seconds ahead of Towson's Ryan Baldino. Cannarozzi out swam the competition for first in the 100 breast (57.53) while Joseph Brown took home a victory in the 200 breast (2:07.93).
Alexa Kutch highlighted the women's meet, winning four events. She won both the 100 back (56.44) and 200 back (2:03.90) while also factoring into 200 medley relay and 400 free relay victories. The 200 medley relay team was made of Kutch, Gabrielle Rudy, Hollie Hopf and Victoria Palochik, who finished in 1:45.85. Alicia Diaz, Kutch, Charlotte Myers and Palochik later teamed up for the women's final win of the day in the 400 free relay (3:36.51).
Drexel will return to action the following weekend when it hosts Georgetown for its senior meet and alumni match beginning at 12 p.m. at the Daskalaskis Athletic Center.
