
Swimming and Diving Defeat Georgetown on Senior Day

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's swimming and diving team set three new pool records as the men's and women's swimming and diving teams defeated Georgetown on Saturday afternoon at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. The men's team won 176 - 112 while the women's team earned a 169 - 125 victory.
"Senior meet is always a special week for us," said Head Coach Adam Braun. "The 13 seniors this year have meant so much to the program, both in and out of the water. I couldn't have asked for a better way to end their career at home than the performances both teams had today."
The men's team had 11 first place finishes. The meet was highlighted by three new pool records set in the 200 medley relay, 200 fly and 200 free relay. The 200 free medley relay made up of Kiran Richardson, Ralph Cannarozzi III, Paris Raptis and Jason Arthur won the event with a time of 1:31.51 to beat the previous pool record set by Drexel in 2015 (1:31.98). Paris Raptis beat Lehigh's Jacob Moyar's Drexel Pool record of 1:49.71, earning first in the 200 fly with a time of 1:48.91. Kiran Richardson, David Kneiss, Stathis Malamas and John Scully teamed up in the 200 free relay (1:22.91), beating a 2014 pool record set by Lehigh (1:23.35).
Alexa Kutch highlighted the women's meet yet again, factoring into three out of the 11 first place finishes. Kutch teamed up with Gabrielle Rudy, Hollie Hopf and Alicia Diaz (1:43.62) for her first win of the day, followed by victories in the 100 back (56.93) and 200 back (2:05.25). Charlotte Myers also had an impressive day, winning the 200 free (1:55.74) and the 100 fly (57.29). while placing second in the 200 free relay (1:48.52).
The Dragons will return to action went they head to the Colonial Athletic Association Swimming and Diving Championships in Christiansburg, Va. from Feb. 20-23.
