PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's and women's swimming and diving teams will be back in the pool this week as the Dragons take part in the Colonial Athletic Association Championships, to be held in Christiansburg, Va.
Drexel's men's team completed a nearly perfect dual season, going 4-1 overall. That included regular season wins over Seton Hall, Northeastern, Towson and most recently, a 176-112 win on Senior Day against Georgetown. The women also had a successful season, going 5-1 overall for the second year in a row with wins against La Salle, Seton Hall, Northeastern, Delaware and Georgetown. Their most recent outing also came at Georgetown, where the Drexel women won 169-125.
Last season, numerous Dragons earned All-CAA honors at the event with Jason Arthur leading the men with seven and Alexa Kutch leading the women with four. Other notables included Gabrielle Rudy with three, Tanja Kirmse with three, and Stathis Malamas with six. Anthony Musciano swept the diving events at the meet with golds off the 3-meter and 1-meter boards, the first time that had happened since 2014. Musciano was honored with CAA Most Outstanding Diver of the Meet and CAA Diver of the Year for the second consecutive season.
The Championships will get underway on Wednesday, Feb. 20 with the 200 yard medley relay, men's 1-meter dive and the 800 yard freestyle relay. In all, there will be 22 events completed on both the women's and men's side over four days, concluding on Saturday, Feb. 23.
