PHILADELPHIA -- The Drexel men's basketball team made a season best 12 three-pointers in an 86-74 win over Bryant at the Daskalakis Athletic Center on Wednesday night. The Dragons (3-3) remained unbeaten at home on the strength of their work at the arc, both offensively and defensively. Drexel shot 48 percent on its long-range attempts while holding the Bulldogs (4-3) to 1-of-11 shooting from deep.
Zach Walton set new career highs with 32 points and six three-pointers. The senior was 12-for-17 from the floor and drained six of his nine long-range attempts. Camren Wynter dished out a personal-best 14 assists, and James Butler collected his fourth double-double of the 2019-20 campaign with 18 points and 12 rebounds. The Dragons remained perfect in three games at the DAC this season.
The Dragons led the entire game, but the Bulldogs tied the score at 60-60 when Patrick Harding scored on a lay-up. The Dragons answered with six straight coming on a pair of three-pointers. Freshman Mate Okros gave Drexel the lead for good and Walton followed with another as the Dragons began to pull away, going on a 16-3 run down the stretch. Drexel finished the second half shooting six of 10 from behind the arc.
Charles Pride (25) and Adam Grant (24) combined for 49 of the Bulldogs 74 points. Pride was 11-for-17 from the floor. Harding had a game-high 15 rebounds. Bryant came into the game shooting averaging 11.6 three-pointers per game, but the Dragons limited the Bulldogs long-range attempts and held them to just one trey on the evening.
Drexel had a season-high 28 assists on 31 field goals and committed just nine turnovers. In the first half, when Drexel took a 10-point lead to the break, the Dragons committed just two miscues.
Drexel will be back in action on Monday a.m. at the DAC. The Dragons will face Rosemont on School Day at 11:30.
