PHILADELPHIA -- James Butler notched his fifth double-double of the season, and the Drexel men's basketball team won its fourth-straight home game to start the season in their 84-51 win over Rosemont on Monday. The 4-0 home start is the best for the Dragons since they won their first 15 at the Daskalakis Athletic Center during the 2011-12 season.
The Dragons opened the second half with a 12-0 run to increase its lead to 25. Rosemont wasn't able to get any closer the rest of the way as the Dragons improved to 4-3 on the season. Drexel shot 49 percent from the floor and all nine players who played scored at least five points in the game. James Butler had another solid outing, picking up his fifth double-double of the season with game-highs of 20 points and 10 rebounds. The junior was 9-for-12 from the floor.
Matey Juric had the finest offensive performance of his career since arriving on campus. The sophomore guard set personal bests with 16 points on 6-of-10 shooting and matched a career high with five assists. Coletrane Washington tied a career-high nine points off the bench and had three three-pointers.
Drexel's defense tightened up in the second half and held the Ravens without a three-pointer in 10 attempts. For the game Rosemont shot just 37 percent. Osaze Thornton led the team with 13 points.
Drexel is back in action after the holiday, when it travels to UMBC for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday.
