Arthur Sets School Record in 400 IM at Patriot Invitational

FAIRFAX, Va. – Jason Arthur bettered his own program record in the 400 IM on Friday at the Patriot Invitational. The record holder in both IM events, Arthur clocked in at three minutes, 53.12 seconds for a gold-medal finish.
In total, the Dragons grabbed a pair of golds on Friday and boasted 14 top-10 finishes. Stathis Malmas won the 200 free with a time of 1:38.29, setting a meet record in the process.
Paris Raptis and Kiran Richardson joined their teammates with podium finishes on Friday. Raptis took silver in the 100 fly with a time of 47.80, and Richardson was third in the 100 back (49.81).
Richardson, Zachary Valenzuela, Raptis and John Scully combined for a time of 1:31.16 in the 200 medley relay, which was good for a bronze finish in the race.
The 800 free relay team of Arthur, JonPat Ransom, Kevin Spear and Malamas touched the wall at 6:48.34 for an eight-place result.
Raptis and Valenzuela placed back-to-back in the 100 breast. Raptis finished ninth, and Valenzuela followed in 10th.
On the boards, Anthony Musciano earned a ninth-place result in the 3 meter.
The Dragons dropped to third place on Friday as Florida Atlantic edged them by just two points. UNCW paces the field with 595.5 with FAU (504.5) and Drexel (502.5) following behind.
The Patriot Invitational concludes tomorrow.
