WILMINGTON, N.C. - The Drexel men's tennis team came up empty in a 7-0 defeat at UNCW on Friday. All six singles matches were settled in straight sets after UNCW had claimed the doubles point.
The team of Sinan Orhon and Gustav Wogen led at No. 1 doubles 3-2 when the match was left unfinished as a result of the Seahawks finishing up their victories at No. 2 and No. 3 to clinch the doubles point. Drexel did not see any better results in singles play, where Youssef Lahlou's four games won in his second set marked the high-water mark for the Dragons.
"We are really adapting to the outdoor season," said Director of Tennis Mehdi Rhazali. "Things aren't going our way right now but we know the areas that need adjustment before we play the rest of the outdoor season."
That outdoor season opens in University City on April 4 when the Dragons host Saint Joseph's at the Vidas Courts in a match scheduled to get underway at 2 p.m.
