Wrestling Announces 2019-20 Schedule

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel University wrestling team has announced its 2019-20 schedule. The slate begins in early November with the regular season concluding in late February followed by postseason tournaments in March. A total of eight duals will be hosted at the Daskalakis Athletic Center in 2019-20.
DRAGONS HOSTING TOP TALENT
Drexel hosts a 10 home matches with eight taking place inside the DAC. The year begins with the Dragon Duals against Southern Illinois University and West Liberty University on Saturday, Nov. 9 from North Penn High School.
The Dragons welcome Oklahoma State in the first dual inside the DAC this season on Friday, Nov. 15. The Cowboys finished third place at the 2019 NCAA Championships and had two wrestlers finish runner-up.
Following that, Pittsburgh comes to town on Sunday, Dec. 8 along with Long Island University to close out the calendar year on Saturday, Dec. 14. The Panthers sent five wrestlers to last year's national championships, coming in 34th place as a team.
The home slate in the new year starts with N.C. State on Friday, Jan. 17. The Wolfpack finished 17th at the 2019 NCAA Championships with a fourth-place finish at 157 pounds.
Binghamton (Jan. 19), Navy (Feb. 1), Columbia (Feb. 7) and Penn (Feb. 15) are all conference duals at the DAC this season.
CONFERENCE DUALS
Seven Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association duals are on the Dragons' schedule this campaign. The EIWA season begins in 2020 with American on Saturday, Jan. 11 in Washington, D.C.
From there, Drexel hosts Binghamton on Sunday, Jan. 19 to start four-straight conference matchups. A trip to Bucknell is set for Sunday, Jan. 26 followed by two duals at the DAC against Navy on Saturday, Feb. 1 and Columbia on Friday, Feb. 7.
The regular-season EIWA slate closes on Saturday, Feb. 15 with a doubleheader. The Dragons visit Princeton in the afternoon before hosting Penn at the DAC in the evening.
CALIFORNIA, HERE WE COME
The Dragons are heading west in the winter. Drexel makes a three-dual trip out to face Stanford and Cal Poly on Thursday, Dec. 19 before rounding out the journey with Cal Baptist on Friday, Dec. 20.
TOURNAMENTS
Drexel will compete at both the Keystone Classic on Sunday, Nov. 24 in Philadelphia and at the Southern Scuffle on Wednesday, Jan. 1 and Thursday, Jan. 2 in Chattanooga, Tenn.
POSTSEASON
The EIWA Championships will be hosted by Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pa. on Friday, March 6 and Saturday, March 7. The 2020 NCAA Championships take place in Minneapolis, Minn. from Thursday, March 19 through Saturday, March 21.
