Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving Set Pool Records at Drexel Winter Invite

PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving hosted West Chester University and some members of the Seton Hall Swimming and Diving teams for the Drexel Winter Invite on Friday night. The Dragons set multiple pool and team records at the event.
Stathis Malamas set the pool record in the 200 free by touching the wall in 1:39.59. Malamas was the also first swimmer in the 400 free relay team that included Kevin Spear, Spencer Hill and Paris Raptis. The team finished the race in 3:03.26.
Jason Arthur broke the pool record in the 100 breast at 55.54.
Maddie Riley set the team record and pool record in the 1000 free with a time of 10:06.40. Alicia Diaz set both a team record and a pool record in the 100 fly with a time of 55.34. Alexa Kutch set a pool record with a time of 1:56.20 in the 200 back. Gabrielle Rudy broke a pool record in the 100 breast, finishing with a time of 1:01.86.
The women's 400 free relay team made up of Rudy, Diaz, Paige Powell and Kutch set a new pool record by finishing with a time of 3:03.26.
In the 1-meter dive, Katie Caputo and Becca Demaree both posted qualifying times for NCAA Zones. Caputo qualified with a score of 270.15 while Demaree recorded a score of 278.02. The NCAA Diving Zone A Championships will take place from March 2-4.
NEXT UP
Both teams now will head to Christiansburg, Va. to compete in the 2020 Colonial Athletic Association Swimming & Diving Championships. The conference championships are scheduled to run from Wednesday, Feb. 19 through Saturday Feb. 22.
