PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's basketball program welcomes six newcomers to the 2020-21 roster. The incoming class of Dragons features three freshmen (Xavier Bell, Lamar Oden, Jr. and Amari Williams) as well as a trio of transfers (Luke House, Anto Keshgegian and Chuka Mekkam).
In this six-part Q&A series, fans will get some background on each student-athlete. Thursday gives us a look at sophomore transfer Luke House.
Last season, House played at Division II California University (Pa.), where he started every game. The Norristown, Pa. native and graduate of Archbishop Carroll averaged 13.1 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.7 assists while shooting 42 percent from 3-point range. He made at least one trey in every game.
Q: What about Drexel most caught your eye?
A: The thing about Drexel that caught my eye the most was that it is located in Philly, which is only 35 minutes from my house.
Q: When did you start playing basketball, and what is your proudest basketball moment?
A: I started playing basketball when I was a little kid, probably around the age of 5. My favorite basketball moment would have to be making the game-winning shot at the buzzer against La Salle High School my senior year.
Q: Who is your favorite NBA player, and what do you like about his game?
A: My favorite NBA player is Luka Doncic, and the thing I like most about his game is how he can shoot but also pass very well and gets his teammates involved.
Q: What is the No. 1 thing you worked on to prepare for the jump to NCAA DI basketball?
A: I would say the No. 1 thing I worked on was shooting from farther and faster.
Q: What do you like to do away from basketball?
A: I like to spend time with my family and close friends and play with my dog.
Q: Who is your greatest influence on or off the court and why?
A: My brother Alex is the biggest influence on and off the court. He is three years older than me, and he is why I started playing basketball. He always pushes me to be the best I can be.
Q: What is something most people don't know about you?
A: I've watched the TV show "The Office" almost 3 times.
Q: What do you think you want to major in, and do you have any career plans in mind?
A: I want to major in finance and maybe become a financial advisor for a big company.
