Dragons Celebrate Senior Day Against Elon

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's soccer team forced overtime with a penalty kick goal midway through the second half, but the Dragons fell to the Elon Phoenix 2-1 on Senior Day on Sunday afternoon.
Down 1-0 after a first half goal, Drexel was awarded a penalty kick after the Phoenix was whistled for a handball in the box. Delaney Lappin stepped up and deposited her team-leading fifth goal of the season into the lower left corner, knotting the score at 1-1.
Both teams had late chances, but neither squad was able to find the back of the net in regulation. Elon came away with the eventual game-winner early in the 97th minute to close the contest.
Prior to the match, the Dragons honored Morayo Adenegan, Lauren Currey, Sydney DeNofrio, Gwyn Godin, Jezlyn Jimenez, Rory Klingensmith, Melissa Lyon, Miyuki Schoyen, and Caroline Thompson for their contributions to the program in a senior day ceremony.
