Men's Swimming and Diving Defeats La Salle to Open Season, 167-94

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel men's swimming and diving team opened up its season with a win against the La Salle Explorers on Friday night, 164-94. The Dragons finished first in 13 of 14 swimming events.
In the 200 IM, Alessio Gianni, Paris Raptis, and Eli Kofman took the top-three finishes. Gianni placed first in the 100 back, 200 back, 200 IM and was the first in the pool for the first-place 200 medley relay team in his collegiate debut.
On the diving board, Will Seely finished in third place for 1-meter diving with a final score of 243.15. Jack Patton followed with a third-place finish in the 3-meter dive with a final score of 223.35.
John Scully finished first in the 50 and 100 free. Kacper Karnik also had an excellent start to the year with four first-place finishes. The sophomore finished first in the 200 medley relay, 100 breast, 200 breast and the 400 free relay. Xabier Carneiro also contributed two first-place finishes in the 500 and 1000 free.
The Dragons will travel to Boston College to swim against the Eagles on November 5 and 6.
