Women's Squash Starts Season With Sweep of No. 32 Chatham

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 6 Drexel University women's squash team opened its season with a convincing win against the No. 32 Chatham Cougars by a 9-0 score on Friday night.
DU started the match up 3-0 from a trio a default wins at seven, eight and nine. The first court victory for the day for the Dragons came at fourth singles where Katerina Cummings took an 11-0, 11-1, 11-0 win. Drexel won the fifth point necessary for the match at third singles where Lara Varma won 11-1, 11-0, 11-0.
Also winning in the first slate of matches was Dina Rosli, who survived a second game challenge to take a 11-0, 11-9, 11-1 victory. Hatti Specter won at number five by an 11-0, 11-0, 11-2 score. After the changeover, Margot Prow won at number one 11-8, 11-2, 11-8. Rose Lawrence completed the sweep with a 11-1, 11-1, 11-0 victory in the sixth slot.
Drexel returns to action with a pair of matches tomorrow. The Dragons start the day hosting No. 18 Franklin & Marshall at 10 a.m. at the Kline & Specter Squash Center. DU then travels across University City to battle No 8 Penn at 4 p.m.
