Women's Swimming and Diving Finishes Day One of Patriot Invitational in Second Place

FAIRFAX, Va.- The Drexel women's swimming and diving team wrapped up a successful first day at the Patriot Invitational on Thursday night. The team finished the opening day in second place placed, setting two school records and a meet record.
Lera Nasedkina broke the school record in the 50 free by touching the wall in 22.50 in her preliminary race. In the A final, Nasedkina finished first to earn the gold medal with a time of 22.61. Chelsea Gravereaux and Ryann Styer also competed in the A final of the 50 free. Gravereaux finished with a 23.56 while Styer touched the wall in 23.88.
The team of Nasedkina, Gravereaux, Victoria Palochik and Styer swam in the 200 free relay making school and meet history. The team swam the event in a record breaking 1:31.85.
The 400-yard medley team of Fede Nocera, Megan Sicinski, Gravereaux and Styer captured bronze with a time of 3:48.68.
Maddie Riley was featured in the A final for the 500 free after posting a time of 4:56.37 in her preliminaries. Riley finished the A final race with a 4:57.44, just one second shy of first place.
The 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast and 100 back will be featured in day two of the three-day Patriot Invitational. The Dragons currently sit behind Delaware by 61 points and will work to cut into that lead on Friday.
