Nasedkina Sets New Record in Day Two of Patriot Invitational

FAIRFAX Va.- The Drexel women's swimming and diving team had another successful showing at the Patriot Invitational on Friday. The Dragons took multiple gold medals and Lera Nasedkina set her third program record on day two of three at the Invite.
The Dragons started the finals portion of the day by earning a gold medal in the 200 medley relay. Aldercy Bui, Megan Sicinski, Victoria Palochik and Nasedkina banded together to touch the wall first in 1:41.28. Maddie Riley won bronze in the 400 IM, swimming a time of 4:25.65.
Nasedkina broke yet another school record in the preliminary of the 100 fly by swimming a 54.63. In the finals, she won silver by touching the wall in 54.99. It is her fourth medal of the invite. Palochik and Chelsea Gravereaux both secured a spot in the A final for the 100 fly by finishing the preliminaries with times of 56.07 and 56.18, respectively.
Gravereaux swam a 1:52.46 in the preliminaries of the 200 free to secure a spot in the evening's A final. Joining her was Powell who touched the wall in 1:53.07. Sicinski won silver in the 100 breast with a time of 1:02.46, finishing less than a second behind first. Nasedkina also competed in the A final for the 100 breast after posting a 1:02.85 in the preliminaries.
The Dragons earned two medals in the 100 back. Bui touched the wall first to earn gold with a time of 55.34, while Fede Nocera tied for third with a time of 56.35 to earn bronze.
The Dragons wrap up the 2021 Patriot Invitational on Saturday starting at 10 a.m. The team will swim the 200 back, 100 free, 200 breast, 200 fly and 1650 free. Currently the Dragons are in third place and trail first by 118 points.
