Men's Squash Battles Columbia to Final Point

NEW YORK, N.Y. – The No. 5 Drexel University men's squash team took the No. 6 Columbia Lions to the brink before losing a tough 5-4 match on Friday afternoon.
Columbia went up 1-0 early with a win at number nine, but the Dragons came right back as Dylan Kachur secured a 3-0 win in the second slot against Chaitanya Shah with an 11-6, 11-5, 11-5 scoreline. DU took the lead in the next match as in the third slot, Haris Qasim came from behind twice to defeat Harold Castiaux in five games 6-11, 11-6, 7-11, 11-6, 11-4 in a match that lasted more than an hour.
Following a setback at number eight, Drexel built its lead as Matias Knudsen defeated James Wyatt 11-8, 11-5, 11-2. Quickly after that, Filip Krueger outlasted Ryan Chen 11-8, 7-11, 7-11, 11-8, 11-8.
Unfortunately, DU was unable to come away with a win in either of the final two matches as the Lions took the overall ladder.
The Dragons return to action in the new year when they travel to No. 2 Trinity on Saturday, January 8. Match time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
