BY THE NUMBERS
- Washington became the first Drexel player to eclipse the 20-point mark this season, connecting on 11-of-18 shooting from the floor.
- Tessa Brugler also was in double figures with 16 points, grabbing eight rebounds and coming away with two blocks.
- Early in the first quarter, Hannah Nihill came away with a steal, the 250th of her career.
- For a third consecutive game, DU held an opponent under 50 points and to less than 30 percent shooting.
- It was the first time Drexel kept an opponent under 40 in a game since a 61-34 victory against UNCW on January 3, 2021.
- After a slow start, Drexel found its legs after the first media timeout, using a 9-4 run in the final 4:30 of the opening frame to take a 15-9 edge after 10 minutes. Washington led the way for the Dragons with four points in the span.
- The run continued into the second frame where DU scored the first two baskets of the quarter, both by Washington, to extend the advantage to 19-9. Not content to stop there, Drexel pushed the lead as the period progressed, going up by as many as 21 when a layup by Brugler made the score 34-13 at the 1:33 mark.
- Opening the third period, Brugler converted a pair of layups, the second of which was an "and one" as she scored five of the first seven points of the frame, pushing the lead to 41-17 just more than three minutes into the second half.
- The rest of the third period was played evenly with Drexel maintaining its lead through the fourth to secure the win.
