Dragons End Regular Season on Friday at JMU

HARRISONBURG, Va. - The Drexel men's basketball team will play for the first time in almost three weeks when it visits James Madison on Friday afternoon at 4 p.m. The game with the Dukes will be the final regular-season game for Drexel. Drexel and JMU were originally scheduled to play a pair of games this weekend, but will meet just once this weekend. JMU won the earlier meeting this season in Harrisonburg. The 2020-21 Drexel men's basketball season is presented by IBEW Local 98.
THE SERIES
The Dragons lead the all-time series with the Dukes, 23-16. Drexel has won five of the last seven games overall. On Jan. 31 in Harrisonburg, Camren Wynter scored 29 points, but James Madison defeated the Dragons, 73-64, at the Atlantic Union Bank Center on Sunday. The Dukes opened up a 17-point lead in the first half before the Dragons battled back. The win snapped Drexel's two-game winning streak against the Dukes

The Dragons begin play today with an 8-7 overall record. They are now 3-5 in Colonial Athletic Association play. Drexel has played just three games in the last 33 days. The Dragons have been off since the weekend of Feb. 6, when they went to Hofstra and came away with a split of the two game series. Drexel had its series canceled against Delaware and Towson the last two weekends due to COVID-19 protocols with the opposing teams. The Dragons only other game in the last month was at JMU on Jan. 31.
Cam Wynter has had an outstanding season for the Dragons. The junior is averaging 17.5 points and 5.5 assists per game and is in the running for CAA Player of the Year. He is in the CAA's top 10 in scoring, assists, field-goal percentage and minutes played. Wynter is also shooting .403 from long range. James Butler has turned in another solid season. He leads the CAA in field-goal percentage and averages 13.5 points per game. Butler is the team's leading rebounder at 9.1 per game. T.J. Bickerstaff (10.9) and Zach Walton (10.5) each score in double figures for DU.
ABOUT THE DUKES
The Dukes enter the game in first place with an 8-1 record. JMU is 13-5 overall and 10-2 in the Atlantic Union Bank Center. The Dukes have won seven straight games. Matt Lewis leads the CAA with 19.7 points per game and is also a player of the year candidate. Vado Morse scores 13.3 points per game. Lewis and Morse combined have made 80 3-pointers and are both shooting better than 36 percent from deep.

Drexel will be back in Harrisonburg next week as the Atlantic Union Bank Center will host the CAA Championships. The opening round games are scheduled for Saturday with the quarterfinals getting underway on Saturday, March 6.
