Drexel Wrestling Finishes Season at the NCAA Championships

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Redshirt sophomore Michael O'Malley and redshirt senior Parker Kropman of the Drexel wrestling team closed out their time at the 2021 NCAA Championships in St. Louis, Mo. from Enterprise Center on Friday afternoon. O'Malley won his first consolation match of the day but dropped the second consolation match while his teammate, Kropman, lost his consolation match earlier on Friday.

O'Malley made quick work of his opponent. The redshirt sophomore took down Munoz halfway through the first period and pinned him almost immediately after to advance to the next consolation round.

O'Malley started in a 2-0 hole to begin the first period. The red shirt sophomore then got an escape point to end the first period. In the second period, Massa started on the bottom and escaped O'Malley's grip to take a 3-1 lead. Before the period was over, the Wolverine received a takedown. O'Malley started the third period on the bottom and could not get the escape point he needed.

After a stalemate in the first period, Kropman chose to start the second period on the bottom. The Redshirt senior was given an escape point. The score stayed 1-0 in favor of the Dragon until Lovett was awarded a takedown with three seconds remaining to take a 2-1 lead. Lovett then chose bottom and received an escape point to take a 3-1 lead.
