Women's Tennis Drops Match Against Saint Joseph's, 4-3

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team was defeated by the Saint Joseph's Hawks, 4-3, on Tuesday Afternoon. After the Dragons swept the doubles point, Saint Joseph's rallied and won four singles matches to defeat the Dragons.

Cristina Corte González and Isabel Cabrerizo paired up in the No. 1 doubles match and took down their opponents, 6-3. In the second-seeded doubles match, Šárka Richterová and Aida Garcia Mendez continued their dominant play by winning their match, 6-2. In the third-seeded doubles match, Marta Martinez and Tara Veluvolu swept their opponents with a 6-0 set.

In singles play, Saint Joseph's rallied for four wins to defeat the Dragons. Cabrerizo was able to top her opponent in the third-seeded match, 6-1, 6-3. Following Cabrerizo's match, Veluvolu finished off her opponent in two sets, 6-4, 6-3.

The Dragons will now prepare to head to Williamsburg, Va., to participate in the CAA Women's Tennis Championships. The Dragons will take on the second-seeded Elon Phoenix in a match starting at 3 p.m. on Friday, April 23.
