PHILDADELPHIA, Pa – Three members of the Drexel field hockey team were named to the Colonial Athletic Association Postseason All-Conference teams on Thursday morning.
Drexel had two athletes earn a spot on the All-CAA First Team including freshman forward Eline Di Leva and sophomore midfielder, Isabel Jacobs. In her first season as a Dragon, Di Leva also secured herself a spot on the All-Rookie Team alongside fellow freshman midfielder/defender Liz Chipman.
Eline Di Leva / 2020 All-CAA First Team & All-Rookie Team
Di Leva led Drexel's offense in 2020, appearing in all 10 games for the Dragons. The freshman recorded six goals and four assists for a team-high 16 points. She currently ranks first in the league in points (16), goals (6) and game winners (3). She is also second in points per game (1.60) heading into the conference tournament. Di Leva was named CAA Rookie of the Week for the week of Mar. 23 after netting three goals in three games.
Isabel Jacobs / 2020 All-CAA First Team
Jacobs appeared in nine games for the Dragons in 2020 and was key in helping the Dragons offense produce in the circle. She recorded eight shots in nine games including a team-high five in Drexel's 1-0 win over Towson to close out the regular season. The sophomores ability to cover, distribute and then break lines helped create dangerous offensive opportunities for the Dragons.
Liz Chipman / 2020 CAA All-Rookie Team
Chipman was a dual threat for the Dragons, coming up big on both ends of the field in 2020. The freshman ranked third on the team in assists while also recording a team-high two defensive saves, one against JMU on Apr. 2 and the other against Hofstra on Apr. 7.
All three athletes were recognized for their efforts in the classroom as well. Each student-athlete was named to the 2020 National Field Hockey Coaches Association DI National Academic Squad. This season, Di Leva, Jacobs and Chipman joined 1,200 student athletes from more than 75 different institutions in receiving the honor.
