PHILADELPHIA – Drexel Head Coach Ben Feld has announced that Drue Nicholas will be transferring to the school after spending this season at N.C. State.
Nicholas is from Egg Harbor Township, N.J. Before going to N.C. State, Nicholas spent a prep year at St. Augustine Preparatory School. He had an outstanding high school career and graduated as the top-ranked player in the state of New Jersey. He was also ranked No. 67 in the Class of 2020 on the National Junior Golf Scoreboard player rankings. Nichols won the 2017 AJGA Junior All-Star event at Wyndham Resort at nine-under par (70-70-67). He was also the medalist at the 2017 Optimist Junior International Golf Championship and had a total of eight American Junior Golf Association top-10 finishes. Nicholas was also an outstanding student in the classroom where he was a member of the Dean's List Honor Roll every semester of high school.
"I had the pleasure of getting to know Drue during the recruiting process a couple of years ago and it was clear from the jump that whatever program he ended up in would be very lucky to have him," said Drexel Head Coach Ben Feld. "We feel very fortunate to be in this situation today. Drue brings with him an impressive competitive pedigree and thrives under pressure. Drue has continued to improve year after year and we cannot wait for him to unlock his full potential as a Dragon."
Nicholas is the fourth golfer to commit to Drexel for next season. Brockton English, Tafadzwa Nyamukondiwa and Caleb Taylor signed their National Letters of Intent to play for Drexel in the fall.
