PHILADELPHIA – Drexel men's tennis wrapped up its appearance at the Penn Fall Invitational on Sunday morning. The Dragons competed in a hidden dual format against Penn State.
The Dragons put up a fight in multiple matches but could not pull ahead of the Nittany Lions. In the top three matches during doubles play, Drexel came within two sets of winning. In the first-seeded match, Alex De Sousa and Alan Jesudason battled to a 6-4 defeat against the top pair for Penn State. Sanil Jagtiani and Xandy Hammitt's No. 2 doubles match ended with the same score. Juan Manuel Sanchez and Gustav Wogen finished just behind their opponents in the third-seeded doubles match, 7-5.
In singles play, Jesudason took his match into three sets. After winning the first set, 7-6 (4), the Berwyn native dropped set number two. The third set was a superset, which Jesudason could not come out on top, 10-5. Radionov took his seventh-seeded match into the third set after winning the first set.
"This weekend was great for our team," head coach Mehdi Rhazali said. "We had some tough competition and our guys had some great matches against tough teams in Georgetown, St. John's and Penn State. This was a great start for us. A lot of positives to take from this and we look forward to next week!"
The Dragons will travel to Saint Joseph's on Friday, September 24, to participate in the three-day Saint Joseph's Fall Invitational.
