Women's Tennis Drops Spring Season Opener Against Penn, 6-1

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team began its spring season with a short trip across University City to face the Penn Quakers on Friday afternoon. The Dragons dropped the dual to the Ivy League powerhouse, 6-1.
After Penn won the first and second-seeded doubles matches, the Dragons dramatically won the third flight. The Team of Tara Veluvolu and Cristina Corte González paired and took down their opponents in a five-round tiebreaker.
Mya Fuentes outlasted her opponent in the No. 5 singles match after dropping the first set, 6-1. In the second set, the graduate student won, 6-3, and then replicated her success in the final set, 10-7.
The Dragons' spring season is now in full swing. Drexel travels to Rutgers on Feb. 4 at noon. Then returns to Philadelphia on Feb. 6 at 2 p.m. to host Syracuse in a home dual at the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center at Penn.
