EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J. – The Drexel women's tennis team traveled to New Jersey to take on a formidable opponent in Rutgers on Friday afternoon. The Dragons fell short against the Big Ten opponent, 6-1.
Lorie Lemongo had a much-anticipated rematch with Tess Fisher in the top flight after coming away with a pretty convincing victory in the 2021 ITA Regionals in the fall. The first-year battled hard with the top-seeded Scarlet Knight but could not hold on for the victory. Lemongo took the first set, 6-1, but Fisher battled back with a win in the second set (7-5) and third set (10-5).
In the fourth-seeded flight, Isabel Cabrerizo earned a hard-fought victory over her opponent, 7-6, 6-3, to earn Drexel's only point of the day.
The Dragons have a short turnaround as they will host the Syracuse Orange on Sunday, Feb. 6, at 2 p.m. The dual with the ACC opponent will be held on Penn's campus at the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center.
