
Men's Tennis Finishes Strong Showing on Day One of ITA Regional

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel men's tennis team opened its showing at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Northeast Regional on Friday. The Dragons traveled to the Hecht and Hamlin Tennis Center on the campus of Penn and won a total of four-of-five matches.
Juan Manuel Sanchez started the day out earning a 6-4, 1-6, 6-2 victory. He will return on Saturday and face one of the top seeds in the tournament in Adit Sinha of Cornell. Hugo Brungs earned a victory over Daniils Snaiders of Buffalo, 6-3, 6-4. He also will face a top-seeded player in the tournament on Saturday in Jack McCarthy of Cornell. Kael Shah continues to play well. The freshman defeated his opponent, 6-2, 6-7 (3), 7-5 to move onto the second round. Shah will face Ellis Short of Princeton, who is in the 9-16 seeded section.
In doubles play, Shah and Brungs paired and defeated their opponents from NJIT, 8-2. The Du will face Baylor Sai and Zach Smith of Penn in round two.
Day two promises to bring a lot more Dragon action as Alan Jesudason and Alex De Sousa start play in round two after earning a round one buy.
