HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was an up and down start to the game for both teams as the Bulls held the early advantage, scoring six of the first eight points. Drexel responded, closing the period on a 10-5 run in the final six minutes of the frame, capped by a pair of Lavelle free throws as DU held a 12-11 edge after one quarter.
- The Dragons started the second quarter well as baskets from Brianne Borcky and O'Neill helped extend the lead. After a quick spurt by Buffalo, a pull-up jumper from Washington and three-pointer from Hendrixson sent Drexel back on top, 21-19 with 4:02 left in the half.
- DU picked up the shooting in the latter part of the second as well with the trey by Hendrixson igniting a 5-for-6 performance from the floor. Drexel ended the half on a 13-2 run with the last points coming on a bank shot buzzer beater by Washington as the Dragons went into intermission up 31-21.
- Defense was the tone of the third quarter as Drexel held Buffalo to 4-for-15 from the floor in the frame. Offensively the scoring was spread out with five different players notching a point in the period. The strong defense continued into the fourth with DU holding the Bulls to four points in the first eight minutes of the frame to help secure the win.
