Washington Moves into Fourth on Career Scoring List as Dragons Down Longwood

FARMVILLE, Va. – Four players scored in double figures as the Drexel women's basketball team claimed a 74-61 road win at Longwood on Wednesday night.

- Washington led the Dragons with 25 in the game, the 12th of which moved her in to fourth place on the Drexel all-time scoring list. During the contest, she passed Sarah Curran, Kamile Nacickaite, and Katrina Martin as Washington ended the contest with 1,665 points.
- It was also Washington's fourth 20+ point game this season.
- Grace O'Neill was in double figures for the second consecutive game, netting 14. She also added six rebounds and had five steals.
- Hetta Saatman contributed on both ends with 10 points and a career-high five blocks.
- Maura Hendrixson was also in double figures, scoring 14 including going 4-for-8 from beyond the arc.
- Eight different players scored for the Dragons.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- A slow start for Drexel and hot shooting for Longwood allowed the Lancers to jump out to a 13-7 lead with 3:18 to go in the opening frame. The Dragons followed with an 8-2 run, connecting on 4-of-7 shots during the span, tying the game on a jumper by Brianne Borcky with 1:04 to go.
- After closing the first period well, DU began the second on fire, using a 5-for-6 start from the floor to take a 25-18 lead on a jumper by Saatman with 6:28 left in the quarter. Overall, Drexel shot 11-for-15 in the period, paced by eight from Washington and six from O'Neill to lead by 10 at the half.
- Both teams shot well in the third with each squad eclipsing the 46 percent mark. The Dragons hit one more three-pointer and one more free throw as DU upped the lead to 59-45 heading into the final period.
- The Lancers challenged in the fourth, slicing the lead to 70-61 at the 54 second mark, but Drexel was able to trade baskets through the final buzzer to earn the win.
