Dragons Drop OT Heartbreaker at Yale

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Down 11 with 3:24 remaining, the Drexel women's basketball team forced overtime, but the Dragons dropped a 60-58 heartbreaker to the Yale Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon.

The Dragons play the last game of their five-game road trip with a Tuesday afternoon contest at Dartmouth on December 13. Tipoff from Leede Arena in Hanover, N.H. is slated for noon.

- Jasmine Valentine posted a career-high eight points and had a season-high 12 rebounds.
- Keishana Washington led the Dragons with 33 points in the game, eclipsing the 1,700 point mark in her career. She also had four rebounds and her first block of the season. It was her fourth 30+ point game of the year.
- Grace O'Neill continued her run with four more steals, giving her 17 in the last five games and two or more in six of eight games this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Drexel got off to a blistering start, scoring the first nine points of the game while forcing four Yale turnovers, causing the Bulldogs to call timeout 4:25 into the contest. Yale battled back, netting eight of the final 10 points in the frame, however it was the Dragons on top 13-11 after 10 minutes.
- In a half of runs, DU came out with the opening attack in the second as a pair of free throws and a three-pointer from Washington made it 18-11 before the Bulldogs scored six in a row by the midway point of the frame. Yale eventually took a brief lead, but an off-balance runner from Washington beat the buzzer, sending the teams into the half tied at 23-23.
- Yale looked like it would close the game out after a free throw made it 52-41 with 3:24 to go, but Drexel had other plans. A 4-for-4 effort from the floor helped the Dragons to a 13-2 run to close regulation, forcing the extra session.
