WILMINGTON, N.C. – The Drexel University women's basketball team opened conference play with a resounding 71-47 win against the UNCW Seahawks on Thursday night.

BY THE NUMBERS

Keishana Washington led all scorers with 21 in the game, her 10th contest this season with 20 or more and the 46th in a row she has reached double figures.
Maura Hendrixson netted 10 and posted a team-best six assists.
Six different players scored six or more points in the game and nine Dragons scored overall.
Drexel shot 60.5 percent through the first three quarters and 57.7 for the game, a season-high.
It was the 23rd consecutive win for DU against UNCW.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Washington got off to a fast start in the game, scoring the first eight points for the Dragons. After that, buckets from Grace O'Neill, Hetta Saatman and Jasmine Valentine helped DU to a 14-9 lead at the first media timeout.
Leading by seven after 10 minutes, the Dragons turned it on early open the second quarter, scoring 18 of the first 24 points in the frame, taking a 39-20 lead at the 3:29 mark. Drexel capped the run going 7-of-8 from the floor, the last on a fastbreak layup by O'Neill. Overall, DU shot 58.6 percent in the first half, taking a 42-24 lead into the break.
The third period picked up where the second left off as Drexel closed the frame on a 13-2 run and shot 9-for-14 overall as the Dragons went into the final 10 minutes on top 61-35. The fourth quarter was played at an even pace, creating the final score.
