Lappin and O'Reilly Named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area

PHILADELPHIA – Demonstrating their prowess in the classroom and on the pitch, Delaney Lappin and Annalena O'Reilly have been named Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area as announced by Philly-SIDA and voted on by the sports information directors in the region.
To be eligible, a student-athlete must be in their sophomore year or higher and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30. The award encompasses all three levels of NCAA athletics and is open to all Philadelphia region schools.
It is the second academic award earned by the duo. Last month they were selected as College Sports Communicators Academic All-District. The honor also adds to the list of hardware for the pair who were both recognized as the best players at their position by the CAA, First Team All-CAA and All-East Region selections by the United Soccer Coaches.
The CAA Attacking Player of the Year, Lappin led Drexel and set single-season program records with 12 goals and 27 points. She had four games this season with two goals, including the CAA quarterfinals against William & Mary and was the conference Offensive Player of the Week on October 10.
O'Reilly was the CAA Midfielder of the Year, scoring seven times and assisting on five others. Her 19 points this season are fifth on the Drexel single-season list. O'Reilly recorded a point in six consecutive matches from September 22 through October 9.
