PHILADELPHIA — Drexel Head Women's Soccer Coach Shannon Grogan has announced the additions of Erica Ludwikowski and Kyle Schumann as assistant coaches.
"I am thrilled to welcome Erica and Kyle to the Drexel women's soccer program," said Grogan. "Their dedication to their craft, willingness to support every aspect of the program and student-athlete-first approach truly set them apart."
Ludwikoski will serve as an assistant coach and lead the program's recruiting efforts. Before joining the Dragons, she spent the last two seasons as an assistant coach at Cleveland State, where she helped spearhead recruiting initiatives, coordinated showcases and team travel, and managed the transfer portal, in addition to assisting with training sessions and game-day responsibilities. Under her tenure, the Willliamsport, Pa., native helped develop two All-Horizon League performers and one Horizon League All-Academic Team selection.
"Erica brings a tireless work ethic and a passion for developing and recruiting student-athletes who embody what it means to be a Dragon," said Grogan. "Her dedication and commitment to our program will make a positive impact, and I'm excited to have her on staff."
Prior to her time in Cleveland, Ludwikoski spent four seasons at Division II Slippery Rock, beginning her coaching career as a graduate student assistant before being elevated to an assistant coach for the 2022 season. During her tenure with The Rock, the program posted a 31-12-13 overall record and made three appearances in the PSAC Tournament. The team also produced 15 All-PSAC players, two CoSIDA All-Americans and four PSAC Team GPA awards.
Before making the leap to coaching, Ludwikoski spent four seasons at Rider, where she was a four-time MAAC All-Academic honoree. She appeared in 41 games, making eight starts, and was chosen as the Class of 2020 representative on the Rider women's soccer leadership team. She received her dual bachelor's degree in sport management and leadership from Rider University in 2020 and went on to obtain a master's degree in student affairs in higher education from Slippery Rock in 2022.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the Drexel community and couldn't be more excited to be part of Shannon's vision for the future of this program," said Ludwikoski. "I truly appreciate the confidence she has shown in me as we begin building this program."
Schumann returns to Philadelphia after spending the 2025 season at Division II Missouri Western State as an assistant coach. He helped lead the team to a 12-2-7 record and their first MIAA title in program history.
"Kyle's extensive coaching experience and knowledge of the game will create an environment where our players can develop to their highest potential," said Grogan. "I look forward to working alongside him."
Prior to his time with the Griffons, Schumann spent six seasons at Jefferson, including three as the head women's soccer coach. During his tenure as interim and head coach, he posted a 37-9-6 record, leading the Rams to a CACC Tournament Championship and two CACC regular-season titles. He was named CACC Coach of the Year in 2024 after guiding the team to its first Sweet 16 appearance in program history.
Schumann also made stints with Southwestern Oklahoma State in 2018, where he led the team to a 13-5-1 record, with the only defeats coming to NCAA Tournament teams. He also served as an assistant to the men's soccer program at Malone in 2017.
"I'd like to thank Shannon for the opportunity to join this Drexel team and community," said Schumann. "I'm excited to return back to Philadelphia, and I cannot wait to get started.
As a collegiate goalie, Schumann spent four seasons with Southern Nazarene, where he contributed to the program's four consecutive NAIA Tournament appearances, including a run to the national semifinals in 2005. He was also named a NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete, earning his bachelor's degree in finance in 2009, later receiving his MBA from Southwestern Oklahoma State. After graduation, Schumann went on to play one season in the National Soccer League in 2013 for the Tulsa Athletic.
Additionally, Mike Paznokas will stay on staff as a goalkeeper coach.
"I am excited to keep Mike on our staff as he continues to work and share his knowledge with our goalkeepers," said Grogan. "His expertise and leadership will help our goalkeepers reach their full potential."
