PHILADELPHIA — The Drexel women's soccer team fell to Philadelphia rival Saint Joseph's, 3-2, in Drexel's season opener at Sweeney Field. Drexel had a strong first half offensively, scoring a pair of goals to take a 2-0 lead into halftime. Saint Joseph's responded in the final 45 minutes, with three different Hawks finding the back of the net to complete the comeback.

Drexel opened the scoring in the 10th minute when Liv Brocious found the back of the net. Sora Marable received the ball inside the box and dished it to Brocious, who beat her defender and finished with the left boot to give the Dragons their first goal of the campaign.

The Dragons struck again in the 26th minute off a free kick. Adriana Salzano sent the ball from midfield into the box, where Riley Lukach got a touch on it and redirected it past the keeper for her first career strike.

The Hawks quickly tied things up early in the second half. Valentina Nardone scored in the 50th minute before Sarah Fisher added another in the 55th.

Saint Joseph's scored the game-winning goal in the 69th minute following a corner kick. Fisher sent the ball into the box, where Juliette Muro connected on the service and found the back of the net.

Drexel had a late opportunity in front of the net in the final minutes. In the 88th minute, Julia Dunaway's shot was stopped by the diving Saint Joseph's defender, sealing the win for SJU.

The Dragons make their home debut on Thursday, August 20 as Drexel battles Holy Family. Action from Vidas Field kicks off at 6 p.m.
