Men's Squash Takes Seventh Place at Potter Cup

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 8 Drexel University men's squash team closed the Potter cup with a thrilling 5-4 win against No. 7 Virginia in the seventh place game on Sunday morning.
The day started roughly for DU who saw Virginia claim the first two points of the match before Matias Knudsen defeated Omar El Torkey 11-6, 11-7, 11-2 at number two. The Cavaliers looked to take control of the match after that, winning at four.
Drexel came back with a five game victory for Gautam Nagpal in the ninth spot, who claimed a 3-2 win against Charles Braff 8-11, 11-6, 11-8, 10-12, 11-5. The surge continued as the Dragons pulled even with a sweep for Dylan Kachur at number five, downing Tyler Mackesy 11-7, 11-4, 11-5.
DU took its first lead of the day at number seven as Noel Heaton beat CJ Baldini 14-12 8-11, 11-4, 11-2 and clinched the match as Filip Krueger won in the eight spot 11-3, 11-13, 11-4, 11-8 against William Holey.
Up next, several members of the team will compete at the CSA Individual Championships to be held March 4-6 in Philadelphia.
