
Knudsen Upset Victory Highlights Day One of CSA Individual Championships

PHILADELPHIA – Matias Knudsen earned First Team All-America honors, highlighting the action for the Drexel University men's squash team at the CSA Individual Championships on Friday.
Opening the day in the Pool Cup Main Draw, Knudsen engineered one of the bigger upsets in recent memory as he defeated fourth-seeded Aly Hussein of Virginia 6-11, 11-9, 11-8, 11-2 for a berth in the quarterfinals, guaranteeing First Team All-America honors. In the quarters, Knudsen took a pair of games to extra points, but fell to No. 5 Aly Abou El Einen of Penn 11-3, 10-12, 11-2, 12-10.
Also in the Pool Cup, Lucas Rousselet was upended in both of his matches. By qualifying for the main draw, he will receive Second Team All-America honors.
Haris Qasim advanced to the Molloy North draw semifinals defeating Quinton Ayres Crawford of Haverford 11-1, 11-4, 11-3 before needing five games to outlast Maxwell Orr from Yale 11-8, 9-11, 11-5, 9-11, 11-6. He will face No. 2 James Wyatt of Columbia on Saturday.
In Molloy South, Jose Lopez won his first match, downing No. 7 Arnaav Sareen of Cornell 11-6, 11-9, 8-11, 11-8 before falling to second-seeded James Flynn of Penn. Molloy West saw Filip Krueger win by walkover in his first match before a setback against Nathan Tze Bing Kueh of Penn in the second round.
