PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team defeated the Lehigh Mountain Hawks on Sunday at the Drexel Tennis Bubble. The Dragons improve to a 2-4 record while the Mountain Hawks fall to 1-2.

The Dragons used victories in the top-seeded and second-seeded matches to clinch the doubles point. Lorie Lemongo and Mya Fuentes paired up in the top spot and downed their opponents, 6-2. In the second-seeded match, Cristina Corte González and Tara Veluvolu earned a victory due to an early forfeit by Lehigh.

In singles play, Lemongo made quick work of her opponent, 6-3, 6-1, in the No. 1 spot. Isabel Cabrerizo battled in the third set to defeat her opponent in the No. 3 match. Cabrerizo won the first and the third set, 6-3 and 6-0, respectively. Clinching the match in the fourth-seeded match was Fuentes. The senior defeated her opponent with a pair of 6-1 sets.

In the fifth-seeded bout, Aida Garcia Mendez won after downing the Lehigh opponent, 6-2, 6-2. Pauline Kharkover also tabbed a victory after posting an 8-2 score.

The Dragons return to the Drexel Tennis Bubble on Feb. 27 to host Fordham at noon. As a reminder, there will be no visitors permitted inside the Drexel Tennis Bubble for home matches.
