Dragons Defeated by Fordham, 5-2

PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel women's tennis team was defeated by the Fordham Rams, 5-2, on Sunday afternoon at the Drexel Tennis Bubble.
Drexel rushed out of the gates with a hot start winning the third-seeded match. Aida Garcia Mendez and Isabel Cabrerizo defeated their opponents 6-4. However, Fordham took the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches to clinch the point.
In singles play, the Dragons received a quality performance from Lorie Lemongo in the top flight and Isabel Cabrerizo in the third-seeded match. Lemongo defeated her opponent in two sets, 6-4, 7-6 (6), to push her win streak to three matches. In the No. 3 spot, Cabrerizo battled her opponent into the third set. The sophomore took the first set, 6-2, and dropped the second set, 6-2. In the third set, the Logrono, Spain native downed her opponent, 6-3.
Drexel travels to Annapolis, Md. on March 5 to face Navy at 11 a.m.
