Women's Basketball Handles William & Mary at Home

PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel University women's basketball team used a 16-0 run during the final five minutes of the third quarter and tenacious defense throughout the game as the Dragons downed the William & Mary Tribe 63-43 on Friday night.

- Tessa Brugler had a strong overall game with 18 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks, shooting 8-for-12 from the floor.
- Keishana Washington led all scorers with 20 in the contest, her 11th game this season with 20 or more.
- Hannah Nihill had 12 points, eight assists, and four steals. She now has three or more steals in seven consecutive games.
- Drexel shot 11-for-13 in the opening quarter.
- The Dragons held a 35-24 advantage in rebounds.
- Every active player on the roster played at least four minutes and had either a point, rebound, or assist.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The two teams were locked in a close battle with Drexel leading by two at the first media timeout before the Dragons went on a 14-7 run in the final 4:38 of the period to take a 24-15 lead after 10 minutes. Five different players scored in the quarter for DU, led by 10 from Brugler.
- Defense was the tone of the second quarter as the Dragons held William & Mary to just three points for the first 5:39 of the frame, forcing the Tribe to go 1-for-5 from the floor and commit five turnovers in the span. DU took advantage later in the stanza, using a 7-0 run to close the period and take a 35-20 advantage into the break.
- The Tribe opened the third with some of its most fluid offense of the game, but Drexel quickly shut the door, using a 16-0 run to end the frame, pushing the lead to 55-28 with 10 minutes remaining.
- Drexel was able to get its bench into the game in the fourth quarter with the reserves holding their own as the Dragons maintained their lead through the final buzzer.
