Drexel Squash Concludes Most Successful Season In Program History

PHILADELPHIA – Haris Qasim earned Second Team All-America honors by winning the Molloy North draw, highlighting the final day of the CSA Individual Championships for the Drexel University men's and women's squash teams.
With Qasim's victory, the Dragons placed five total student-athletes on All-America teams. Joining Qasim are Matias Knudsen and Alina Bushma on the First Team and Lucas Rousselet and Karina Tyma on the Second Team. The five combined All-Americans are most in a single season in program history.
Qasim got the day started for the Dragons with an 11-5, 11-5, 8-11, 12-10 victory against No. 1 seed Cesar Segundo Corona.
In the Holleran South final, Noa Romero battled to an 11-4, 11-5, 11-7 setback against top-seeded Habeeba Eldefrawy of Harvard.
The Holleran West championship featured Brooke Herring for Drexel against No. 2 Emma Supattapone of Dartmouth. Supattapone prevailed in the match 11-1, 11-2, 11-8.
Also competing for the Dragons in a consolation final was Ciara Richards who went five games against seventh-seeded Sarah Cao of Columbia before being dealt an 11-5, 5-11, 11-7, 7-11, 11-8 defeat.
The tournament concludes the most successful season in Drexel squash history. In addition to the five All-Americans, the women's team finished No. 2 the country and were the national runners up, setting a school record with 16 wins shattering the previous mark of 12. The men's team finished 12-8 and placed seventh in the Potter Cup.
