Dragons Claim Three Wins in Finals at the Knecht Cup Regatta

PENNSAUKEN, N.J. – The Drexel women's rowing team completed a solid run at the Knecht Cup Regatta on Sunday with wins in three of the five events it entered to go along with a second place finish.
Opening the day, the Second Varsity 4+, rowing in Diane Corle and comprised of Maddie Depommier (coxswain), Abby Citta (stroke), Valentina Frusone, Julia Porro, and Katie Ernst (bow) won its final in a time of 7:48.05, topping Georgetown by nine seconds.
In the final of the Novice 8+, the Dragons competed in Maria Papadakis and outrowed Army, taking the win by nearly 14 seconds, finishing with a time of 7:33.55.
The Second Varsity 8+, rowing in Cara Fry, crossed the line in 6:57.21, the only boat to go under seven minutes in the Grand Final, beating Georgetown by eight seconds.
Capping the afternoon, the DU Varsity 8+, competing in Alleva XVII placed second in the Grand Final with a time of 6:37.13.
Drexel returns to action on Saturday, April 16 when it hosts the Kerr Cup Regatta on the Schuylkill River.
