Drexel Wins Overall Championship, Men’s Championship at Dad Vail Regatta

RESULTS
PHILADELPHIA - The Drexel University men's rowing team swept the eight-man boats as the Dragons claimed both the men's title and the overall points championship at the Dad Vail Regatta on Saturday.
The Dragons won the men's championship with 107.75 points and claimed the overall title with 139.75 points.
Drexel took the Varsity 8+ in Lois Krall III as the team of Sam DeSilva (coxswain), Josh Diggons (stroke), Matt Reilly, Dimitrije Ibrocic, Damian Lis, Michael Pazderski, Andrew Manns, John Karen, and Roman Smigiel (bow) withstood a challenge from both Colgate and Temple, winning in a time of 5:30.611, besting the Raiders by more than two seconds.
In the 2V8+, Billy Ernst (coxswain), John Little, (stroke), CJ Rooney, James Schmidt, Herbert De Cokere, Nemanja Sajatovic, Sam Valigorsky, Jake Miller, and Kosta Petkovic (bow), rowed Lois Krall II to a nearly seven second victory against Temple as the Dragons clocked a 5:37.395. On hand to present the Dragons with their gold medals was George Krall, the donor of the winning shell.
The 3V8+ saw DU edge Temple by just less than three seconds. Competing in Sandra Lee Sheller II, Alex Dragovits (coxswain), Lake Watson (stroke), Nikola Loncar, Richmond Coney, Nick Perks, Sean Blair, Daniel Yurcisin, Jack Anderson, and Chris Cail (bow), crossed the finish line in 5:46.591.
Also scoring points for the Dragons, earning a silver medal, was the Novice 4+. Racing in Bella Santorum, Emma Houghton (coxswain), Maxwell Frey (stroke), Sean Williams, Zach Key, and Carter Hubbard (bow) turned in a time of 6:41.216.
Next up for Drexel is IRA Nationals to be held in Mercer, N.J., June 3-4.
