Drexel University Athletics Celebrates 50 Years of Title IX

On June 23, 1972, one of the most important pieces of legislation in higher education was enacted. Title IX opened the door to women's participation in all facets of education, including sports.
The statute reads as follows:
"No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance."
