PHILADELPHIA – The Drexel University men's basketball team, presented by IBEW Local 98 announced its 2022-23 schedule on Tuesday. Highlighting the slate are three games against Philadelphia schools, including a visit from University City-neighbor Penn, and six non-conference home contests, the most since the 2019-20 season.
The Dragons will play three games in the Gulf Coast Showcase during the week of Thanksgiving. The first game will be against the University of Texas at Arlington on Nov. 21. The Dragons will then then face either Northern Kentucky or Florida Gulf Coast. Last season, NKU won 20 games, while FCGU won 22 games. Toledo, Kansas City, East Carolina and Indiana State are also in the Showcase.
Drexel will have a difficult road to travel in its non-league slate. The Dragons face both Temple and La Salle away from home before the start of conference play. Drexel travels up North Broad Street to face the Owls on Nov. 27. They will face La Salle at Gola Arena on Dec. 10. Other road contests include a match-up with Big East-power Seton Hall and a visit to Fairfield.
The 18-game Colonial Athletic Association schedule begins on Dec. 29 when Elon makes an appearance at the DAC. With the addition of three new schools, each team will play an unbalanced schedule this season.
Drexel has home-and-home series with Delaware, Elon, Hampton, Monmouth, Northeastern and Towson. The Dragons will play one game at Hofstra, Northeastern and Stony Brook. They will also play one game at home against William & Mary, Charleston and UNCW.
The 2023 CAA Men's Basketball Championships once again be played in Washington, D.C., this season. All 13 CAA teams will complete for the league championship and a bid to the NCAA Tournament at the Entertainment & Sports Arena. The CAA Championships begin on March 3, with the championship game being played on March 7.
