PHILADELPHIA - Lamar Oden scored 16 points as Drexel defeated Hampton, 79-73, on Thursday night at the Daskalakis Athletic Center. Justin Moore added 14 points and a career-high seven assists as the Dragons stayed unbeaten at home in conference play.

Drexel (11-8, 5-2) held the lead the entire night but the Pirates would not go away. The Dragons used an early 9-2 run in the second half to increase the margin to 12 points. Hampton (3-16, 0-7) then answered minutes later with seven straight to make it 51-47 with 12 minutes to go. The Pirates were able to make it a one possession game three times in the final 10 minutes, but each time Drexel was able to counter with points. Moore made one of two free throws with 31 seconds left and after a Drexel stop, Luke House iced the game with two free throws giving Drexel its eighth home win of the year.

Oden had his best shooting night of the season. The junior made all but two of his nine field goal attempts and was 4-for-5 from long range. Amari Williams had his sixth double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. He also had four rejections and three assists. His third blocked shot moved him past Samme Givens into 10^th place in career blocks at DU. The Dragons finished the game with 11 3-pointers, the sixth time this season they had at least 10 in a game. Overall, Drexel shot 49 percent from the floor.

Hampton's Deuce Dean led all players with 21 points. Marquis Godwin added 19 points as the Pirates dropped their 10^th-straight game.

Drexel raced out to an 8-0 lead and never trailed in the contest. However, Hampton seemed to have an answer for every Drexel run in the first half. The Dragons were 7-for-15 from deep in the opening half, but when Jordan Nesbett sank a 3-pointer late in the half, Hampton trailed by just four at intermission.

Drexel will face long-time rival Delaware on Homecoming Saturday afternoon at the DAC. Tip-off is at 2 p.m. It will be the Dragons last home game in January as they head to the road for a pair of games to end the month.
